The valley and refuge below Toubkal on a sunny day
Treks / 3-day Toubkal trek

3-day Toubkal trek

A steadier pace up Toubkal than the 2-day trek. Reach the refuge on day 1, summit and return to the refuge on day 2, then walk back to Imlil and Marrakech on day 3.

Day by day

Walking times are approximate and can change with the weather and your pace.

  1. Day 1

    Marrakech, Imlil, refuge

    Marrakech to the Toubkal refuge

We pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech and drive to the Imlil valley (1,740m), about 1h30 away, where the trek begins. Our local team (an English-speaking guide and mule drivers) meets you there, and you have a welcome mint tea at a guesthouse before your guide shows you the route on the map. You then set off towards the basecamp, stopping after about 2h for lunch at the Sidi Chamharouch shrine. From there you continue uphill to the refuge, where you spend the night.

Walking: 5 to 6hHighest point: 3,207mNight: Toubkal refuge
  2. Day 2

    Refuge, summit, refuge

    Summit day

After an early breakfast at the refuge, you start the climb: an uphill walk over scree and rocky ground, taking about 3h to reach the top. From the summit you get amazing views over the High Atlas, well worth the effort. After a short break, you walk back down the same way to the refuge for lunch, some rest, and a second night.

Walking: 6 to 7hHighest point: 4,167mNight: Toubkal refuge
  3. Day 3

    Refuge, Imlil, Marrakech

    Back to Imlil and Marrakech

After breakfast you walk back down to Imlil by the same route, have lunch at a guesthouse, then transfer back to Marrakech, about 1h30 by road.

    Walking: 4 to 5hHighest point: 3,207mEnds: Marrakech

It was really a pleasure to stay with Rdouane in the Atlas mountain, he's really a nice personal, a professional guide and a man with a big heart! He gave to me good suggestion for food (I'm milk free and gluten free), he answered to all my questions about berbere culture and life in the mountains and we spent 2 days together that I will remember for all my life! I like mountains, nature and silence and I found everything perfect, did a lot of pics and I had really good time! I'm very grateful about this experience! So no doubt to tell you “Call him and arrange with him your travel in the beautiful Atlas Mountains” 🙏❤️💪
